Bane Has Passed Away

Earlier today I found out that Bane, one of my favorite bloggers, passed away due to complications from a bad liver. Bane's posts for the past few months had clued me in that something was seriously wrong, as he was describing symptoms vary similar to those that my brother suffered before he died one year ago.

My brother, you'll recall, was afflicted with a terminal nerve disorder. The disorder brings about one's death by causing organ failure. In my brother's case, it was his liver that gave out.

I will miss Bane and his no-nonsense commentary. He was quite the trouble-maker at his own blog and elsewhere. Around here, Bane even caused some trouble (inadvertently) in the comments to this post, when he asked me about my departure from the Festering Swamp. A few weeks later, the answer I gave was copied and pasted at the Swamp by one of my former fellow contributors, causing a huge flame-war to erupt at that blog. Bane also had an interesting conversation with Tom Kratman in the comments to my post about Charlie Stross.

In light of Bane's passing, this song by Michael Johnson - "I Can't Get To You From Here" - seems a fitting tribute.
