McCain for umKulu kulu!
Another one of my readers, and also a friend of mine since the Cathy's World days, is Charlotte from South Africa. We e-mail one another every few weeks, and in her latest e-mail Charlotte gave this vivid description of Lesotho - a mountainous country in southern Africa where she and her family recently vacationed:
Lesotho is a strange little mountainous country completely surrounded by South Africa; its main export is water, which is piped to the industrial and mining areas of South Africa. There's not much industry and the majority of the country's men work as migrant labourers in S.A mines. The capital, Maseru, is a sleepy little place which shuts down at 6:00pm. We spent most of our time in the eastern Highlands, staying at a Catholic mission. The Brothers are mostly Italian and as can be expected we ate very well. Their osso buco and homemade ravioli was some of the best I've tasted, and so much tastier than the local goat head stew on offer.Just reading that makes me want to visit the nearest travel agency and schedule a trip. Too bad I can't afford it at the moment.
We stayed longer than originally planned due to a sudden blizzard that blocked the area's only road. Amazingly, the locals were quite unimpressed by the inclement weather and darted off on their ponies wearing their trademark "Victorians" and conical shaped hats. Victorians are what they call their blankets, which are worn by virtually every person all year round.
While in Lesotho, Charlotte spoke to some local women about Barack Obama and the upcoming presidential election:
I had an opportunity to ask some of the local ladies for their thoughts on Obama, they were polite but worried about his age. The Basuto believe one only becomes an uMkulu kulu (wise person) much later in life. I guess that puts them firmly in the McCain camp!Either that, or it makes them mindless stooges of the McChimpy BusHitler regime. Karl Rove is everywhere these days!

In yesterday's comments, Eric Blair alerted me to the latest moonbattery from Naomi Wolf, who is now calling Sarah Palin the second coming of Evita PerĂ³n. JammieWearingFool has a nice breakdown of Wolf's ramblings.
It's rather heartbreaking to see someone slowly give in to the ravages of insanity, but Wolf has been going down that road for quite some time, as evidenced by her past fearmongering about fascism coming to America. Even more disheartening is the fact that such nonsense is taken seriously by so many in the academic world.

Hot Air has linked to an article at the Huffington Post, wherein some hysterical liberal complains that Bill Clinton is undermining Obama via unenthusiastic campaigning. As long as they are kept from the levers of power, leftists can be quite entertaining.
