The Thoughts of an Obama Supporter, and an Interview with Tom Kratman - Part 2

On Wednesday I was reading this post at Nancy Rommelmann's blog, wherein she wrote of Camile Paglia's take on Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. I left the following comment, making the same point I've made previously on this blog about the role of social class vis-à-vis the leftist attacks on Palin and her family:
Obama and his advisers have failed to grasp a simple fact: you cannot gain people's votes by insulting their intelligence and their values. Liberal contempt for middle-class Americans is what is really motivating the attacks on Palin, and the voters have picked up on it.

Game over.
Yesterday, a reader of Nancy's posted this comment in response to mine:
Obama and his advisers have failed to grasp a simple fact: you cannot gain people's votes by insulting their intelligence and their values. Liberal contempt for middle-class Americans is what is really motivating the attacks on Palin, and the voters have picked up on it.

Well, if some Americans, of any class, are stupid enough to buy the McCain/Palin bullshit, then they ought to be confronted on it. But instead of thinking it through and coming up with something to defend their choices, they (and their flaks) just claim to be insulted and angry, and so they're gonna vote for the fools like them instead of the people who might save this country

And by the way, Richard ... you are absolutely right. You can't convince these people and they can't convince us, and so you have two choices: either say what the fuck, I'm out of here, or attack back without any thought of trying to convince. They choose the latter...so let's return the favor and not fool ourselves that it's about the argument. it's about the insult.

Oh ... I just can't help myself: the whole Palin issue boils down to nothing more than can she lead if she has to? I say not. (Invade Russia anyone?) He sought political advantage by choosing Palin. He didn't pick her because she could lead the free world. He picked her because he was running scared and it was a strategic move. Remains to be seen whether the outcome is positive or negative. Now seeking political advantage is okay and the name of the game -- Obama seeks it by asking if we're better off now and do we want more of the same (some do, hard to believe), but if McCain is going to be so craven as to make a Palin pick then she and he deserve everything we can throw back.

Thus, david proves my point. The hate directed toward Palin by the left has nothing to do with anything resembling political issues, facts, or Palin's abilities to handle the rigors of the vice presidency. It is all about demeaning and demonizing those Americans the left holds in contempt. If this comment is any indication, the lamentations of leftists after November 4 should be quite entertaining.

For now, the lamentations of "concerned" brainless celebrities will have to do. Noted scientist Matt Damon wonders whether Sarah Palin believes dinosaurs walked the earth four thousand years ago, and the scholarly Pamela Anderson - an advocate of "animal rights" - believes the Alaskan governor should "suck it" because she likes to hunt.

Quite a line-up ya got there, Barry.

Here is Part 2 of the interview of Tom Kratman by Blackfive's LaughingWolf. In this segment, Kratman talks about his early days as a writer.
