Things That Make You Go Hmmm....

On Tuesday evening I was hanging out at Vox Day's blog when in the comments to this post, the subject of Barack Obama's "57 states" gaffe came up. A commenter named "farmer Tom" - who's been a regular around there far longer than I have - made mention of an inter-governmental organization called the Organization of The Islamic Conference (OIC).

Guess how many member states they have? From their official website:

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations which has membership of 57 states [emphasis mine] spread over four continents.

In light of Obama's known Islamic schooling as a child growing up in Indonesia and his reference to "my Muslim faith," that is certainly a thought-provoking tidbit of information.
