That Look

When I heard yesterday that Farrah Fawcett had passed away, I immediately thought of a song called "She's Got That Look in Her Eyes" by Alabama. It was written by Alabama band members Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry as a tribute to Fawcett and was released on their 1997 album Dancin' On The Boulevard. Here is the song's accompanying video, released that same year:



Fawcett was an American cultural phenomenon but her heyday was a bit before my time. The iconic pin-up poster of her (shown in the video above) was first published in Life magazine in 1976 - when I was just one year old. A native of Corpus Christi, Texas - where I've spent many a vacation - she attended the University of Texas but left in 1969 during her junior year to try and find success out in Hollywood. And she did. Rest in peace, fellow Texan.
